Congresswoman says promises are not enough to allow Boar's Head to reopen facility

The leader of the congressional Food Safety Caucus says there is no reason to believe that the Boar’s Head production plant linked to a deadly Listeria outbreak is safe to reopen.

The outbreak sickened at least 57 people across 18 states, killing 10 in 2024. The company had to close its Jarrett, VA, plant when government inspectors were pulled. The plant quietly reopened a week ago. Later in the week, Boar’s Head officials released a statement.
