Salmonella Concern Prompts Tahini Recall in Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Phoenicia Group are warning the public not to consume the Alkanater brand Tahina described below because the product may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recall by the importer, Phoenicia Group, St-Laurent, Quebec, is of Alkanater brand Tahina, sold in 454 g containers bearing UPC 6 92551 00002 0 and codes “Prod: 5/7/2011” and “Exp: 5/7/2013”.

Consumers are advised that other 454 g containers of Alkanater brand Tahina with an additional code “Lot: TT3N-281011” inkjetted on the container are not affected by this recall.

This product has been distributed nationally in Canada.

There have been no reported illnesses.
