Smoked Salmon Recalled for Listeria Potential

A Seattle-based company is recalling 371 cases of smoked salmon because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.  Ocean Beauty Seafoods LLC issued a voluntary recall of its Nathan’s Brand Cold Smoked Alaskan Salmon and LASCCO Cold Smoked Nova Atlantic Salmon Friday after internal testing revealed Listeria in a sample.  Both products were imported from Chile. They were distributed to retailers and distribution centers in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey  and New York from 11/20/2012 through 12/12/2012. These code dates are located in the back, top left corner of the package.  The LASCCO salmon was sold in 4 oz packages marked with UPC 0 72840 01751 7 285 96.  The Nathan’s brand salmon was sold in 3oz packages marked with UPC 0 73030 80368 2 285.  Consumers who have purchased the above product should not eat it. Any open packages of affected product and should be discarded; unopened packages should be returned to their place of purchase for a refund.
