# Two new outbreaks detected; FDA searching for source of pathogens

The FDA is investigating two new outbreaks of foodborne illnesses. The sources of the pathogens have not yet been determined.

An outbreak of Salmonella Montevideo infections has been detected, with 17 patients confirmed so far. The Food and Drug Administration has not released any information about the patients ages or where they live. The agency has initiated traceback, but has not reported what food it is tracing.

A new outbreak of infections from E. coli O145 has also been detected. Eleven patients have been confirmed. The FDA has not reported the patients ages, where they live or whether any have been hospitalized. The agency has begun traceback efforts, but has not reported what food it is tracing.

**In other outbreak news,** the number of confirmed patients in a Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak has increased to 78, up from 66 a week ago. The FDA has not reported the patients ages or where they live. The agency has begun traceback efforts but is not reporting what food is being traced. The outbreak was first reported on April 23.

**In another outbreak** of Salmonella Enteritidis infections the patient count has increased to 29, up from 26 a week ago. The FDA has not reported the patients ages or where they live. The agency has begun traceback efforts but is not reporting what food it is tracing.
