# Hot sauce recalled in Canada over microbial contamination

Lazeez Shawarma is recalling hot sauce because of possible microbial contamination, specifically Bacillus cereus.

The recalled product has been sold in Ontario, Canada, according to a recall notice posted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency..

**About Bacillus cereus**  
Bacillus cereus is a toxin-producing microorganism that causes diarrhea and vomiting in people. Those with compromised immune systems are at risk for more severe illness. Vigorous rehydration and other supportive care including antibiotics are the usual treatment.
