# Texas and California food firms warned over import violations

*As part of its enforcement activities, the Food and Drug Administration sends warning letters to entities under its jurisdiction. Some letters are not posted for public view until weeks or months after they are sent. Business owners have 15 days to respond to FDA warning letters. Warning letters often are not issued until a company has been given months to years to correct problems.*

**Best Fiji Kava Inc.**  
**Hayward, CA**

An import company in California is on notice from the FDA for not having FSVPs for a number of imported food products.

In a Feb. 16 warning letter, the FDA described a Nov. 16, 2021, Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) inspection of Best Fiji Kava, Inc. in Hayward, CA.

The FDA’s inspection revealed that the firm was not in compliance with FSVP regulations and resulted in the issuance of an FDA Form 483a. The significant violations are as follows:

The firm did not develop, maintain, and follow an FSVP. Specifically, they did not develop an FSVP for each of the following foods, including each of the following food products imported from **(redacted)** located in **(redacted)**:

- **(Redacted)** Crackers
- Snack Chips
- **(Redacted)** Noodles

**Global Imports Inc.**  
**Kingwood, TX**

An import company in Texas is on notice from the FDA for not having FSVPs for a number of imported food products.

In an April 7 warning letter, the FDA described a Dec. 15, 2021, through Jan. 5, 2022, Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) inspection of Global Imports Inc. in Kingwood, TX.

The FDA’s inspection revealed that the firm was not in compliance with FSVP regulations and resulted in the issuance of an FDA Form 483a. The significant violations are as follows:

The firm did not develop, maintain, and follow an FSVP. Specifically, they did not develop an FSVP for each of the following foods:

- Chopped Spinach imported from foreign supplier **(redacted)**, located in **(redacted)**
- Cut Cauliflower imported from foreign suppliers **(redacted)**, and **(redacted)**, located in **(redacted)**
- Cut Corn imported from foreign supplier **(redacted)**, located in **(redacted)**
- Diced Yellow Peaches imported from foreign supplier **(redacted)**, located in **(redacted)**

**Bhan Kanom Thai Inc.**  
**Los Angeles, CA**

An import company in California is on notice from the FDA for not having FSVPs for a number of imported food products.

In a March 28 warning letter, the FDA described a Dec.6, 7, 9, 13 and 14, 2021, Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) inspection of Bhan Kanom Thai Inc in Los Angeles, CA.

The FDA’s inspection revealed that the firm was not in compliance with FSVP regulations and resulted in the issuance of an FDA Form 483a. The significant violations are as follows:

The firm did not develop, maintain, and follow an FSVP. Specifically, they did not develop an FSVP for each of the following foods:

- Cookie Rolls – Herbal imported from **(redacted)**
- **(Redacted)** Chip imported from **(redacted)**
- **(Redacted)** Dipping Sauce imported from **(redacted)**
