Harvard School of Law lecturer Emily Broad Leib sat down with **Food Safety News** to discuss problems related to food waste and expiration dates at the 2014 conference for the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) held earlier this month in Indianapolis, IN.

As Leib describes it, up to 50 percent of food produced in the U.S. goes to waste. The conversation covers problems associated with “best by” dates, developing solutions to curb food waste, and which foods for which expiration dates matter more than others.
