# Comprehensive List: Recalled Chia Powder Brands and Related Salmonella Cases

As [investigations continue](https://www.foodsafetynews.com/us-canada-salmonella-chia-outbreak-rises-to-73/) into 80 Salmonella illnesses linked to chia powder in the U.S. and Canada, more companies are recalling their products. First, [Navitas Naturals](http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm399151.htm?ref=foodsafetynews.com) recalled its Organic Sprouted Chia Powder and Omega Blend Sprouted Smoothie Mix, along with the Williams-Sonoma Omega 3 Smoothie Mixer, on May 28\. This recall was expanded [on June 6](http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm400185.htm?source=govdelivery&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=govdelivery) to include a broader date range of products. Next was Health Matters America Inc.’s recall of [Organic Traditions](https://www.foodsafetynews.com/canada-updates-chia-seed-recall-to-include-additional-products/) Sprouted Chia Seed Powder and Sprouted Chia & Flax Seed Powder. On June 26, the company [expanded the recall](http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm403069.htm?ref=foodsafetynews.com) to include more lot numbers and additional products containing chia seeds. Two [GreenSmoothieGirl](http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm400143.htm?ref=foodsafetynews.com) Sprouted Ground TriOmega Superfood products containing organic sprouted chia powder distributed in retail stores in UT, OR, MT and directly to consumers nationwide through the company’s website were recalled on June 6\. On July 1, Oriya Organics voluntarily recalled its [Oriya Organics Superfood Protein Medley](http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm403695.htm?source=govdelivery&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=govdelivery) which contains organic sprouted chia seed powder. Canada’s recalls include mostly Organic Traditions products from Advantage Health Matters and BioEssential Botanicals. Chia seed products under the brand names of Back 2 the Garden, Intuitive Path SuperFoods, Harmonic Arts Botanical Dispensary, Naturallyorganic, Pete’s Gluten Free, Noorish Superfoods, Madegood, and Dietary Express have also been recalled. So far, in connection with chia powder, [21 people in the U.S.](http://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/newport-05-14/index.html?ref=foodsafetynews.com) have been infected with Salmonella Newport or Salmonella Hartford and the Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating [59 similar cases](http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/phn-asp/2014/salmonella-nh-053114-eng.php?ref=foodsafetynews.com).
