# Shellfish Products Recalled in Ireland After Illnesses Reported

Seafood De La Mer, an Irish seafood-product manufacturer, is [recalling](http://www.fsai.ie/news%5Fcentre/food%5Falerts/Shellfish%5Fmix.html?ref=foodsafetynews.com) products containing mussels due to a risk that mussels used in the products can cause diarrhetic shellfish poisoning.

Symptoms of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain which can start between 30 minutes to a few hours after ingestion and last for several days. According to a press release from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), multiple products manufactured by Seafood De La Mer are being recalled. The products, which include chowder mixes, seafood mix and mussel meat, were supplied mainly to caterers either directly or via wholesalers. FSAI asks food businesses to remove the affected batches from sale and notify any retail customers not to eat the implicated products.
