Members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees released their consolidated [appropriations bill](http://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20140113/CPRT-113-HPRT-RU00-h3547-hamdt2samdt%5Fxml.pdf?ref=foodsafetynews.com) for FY 2014 on Monday night. The $1.1-trillion omnibus bill provides $1.01 billion for the Food Safety and Inspection Service and allows for another $1 million to come from laboratory accreditation fees. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration will receive $2.55 billion in discretionary funding in the bill, with an additional $1.79 billion to come from user fees. The bill allocates $900 million for the Center for Food Safety and Nutrition (CFSAN), $173 million to the Center for Veterinary Medicine and $275 million to several offices, including the Office of the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, the Office of Foods and Veterinary Medicine, and the Office of the Chief Scientist.
