At least seven people have fallen ill in a Salmonella Lomalinda outbreak in California, according to a spokesman for the California Department of Public Health. The source of the outbreak is still unknown, but the cases are not related to the ongoing outbreak of Salmonella Heidelberg linked to Foster Farms chicken that is predominantly affecting California. The spokesman declined to provide further details, stating that the agency could not yet comment further on the investigation. Symptoms of Salmonella infection can include diarrhea, nausea, stomach cramps and vomiting.
