**Update (June 21):** The CDC raised the case count to 113 on Friday morning, up from 110\. The original article now reflects that below: As of June 20, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced it would scale back its case count of the Townsend Farms frozen berry hepatitis A outbreak to only include medically confirmed illnesses. As a result, the case count now sits at 113 confirmed cases in 7 states, with 50 hospitalizations. That’s down from the last reported number of 118 in 8 states. The case count according to state is as follows: Arizona (15), California (57), Colorado (23), Hawaii (5), New Mexico (5), Nevada (5) and Utah (3). Ages of the ill range from 2 to 87 years old. Sixty percent of patients are between 40 and 64 years old. The particular strain of hepatitis A is considered rare in North America, and has been traced to the pomegranate seeds grown in Turkey.
