# Imported Cheese Recalled for Listeria Risk in Canada

*This story was updated on March 2, 2013 to include expanded recall information.*  An Ontario-based specialty cheese company is recalling its gorgonzola cheese for possible Listeria contamination. Arla Foods Inc. of Concord, ON issued a voluntary [recall](http://www.inspection.gc.ca/about-the-cfia/newsroom/food-recalls-and-allergy-alerts/complete-listing/2013-02-25/eng/1361855895517/1361855904625?ref=foodsafetynews.com) of its Mauri brand gorgonzola Monday because the cheese has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Product subject to this recall is sold in packages of approximately 1.44 kg and marked with product code L. 3100012\. The cheese was packaged on January 7, 2013 and distributed in Alberta, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario.

Packaging is marked with a “Best before,” or “A consummer de preference avant le” date of 07/04/13 (April 7, 2013).

UPDATE: The CFIA and Arla Foods expanded the gorgonzola cheese recall to include packages marked with product codes 13/04/13 and 21/04/13 on March 1, 2013\. The packages were approximately 1.5 kg.
