# Missouri Artisan Cheese Recalled for E. coli Risk

A Missouri creamery is recalling 250 pounds of cheese because it may be contaminated with E. coli. Homestead Creamery of Jamesport, MO issued a voluntary recall of a batch of its Flory’s Favorite cheese, a 60-day aged cheese made from raw milk. “Preliminary test results received from the Missouri State Health Laboratory indicate the cheese may be contaminated with Shiga-Toxin producing E.coli, which can lead to food borne illness,” announced the State Milk Board and the Missouri Department of Agriculture in a [press release](http://mda.mo.gov/news/2013/Homestead%5FCreamery%5FArtisan%5FCheese%5FRemoved%5Ffrom%5FStore%5FShelves?ref=foodsafetynews.com) Monday. The agencies said the state lab is conducting further testing to confirm its findings. Cheese subject to the recall was sold directly from Homestead Creamery, located in the Amish settlement at Jamesport, and may also have been sold at the following retail locations in Missouri and Iowa: – HyVee in Liberty, MO – HyVee in Trenton, MO – Benedict Builders’ Farm in Knob Noster, MO – Milton Creamery in Milton, IA Packages subject to the market withdrawal bear “Packed On 210” on packaging. Homestead’s license to sell milk in Missouri has been temporarily suspended.
