W & International Import Inc. is recalling certain sardine anchovies and dried yellow croaker imported from China because the fish were found to be uneviscerated.

Fish that haven’t been fully gutted — uneviscerated — have been linked to outbreaks of botulism poisoning, because Clostridiuim Botulinum spores are more likely to be concentrated in the viscera than any other portion of the fish.

The problem was discovered during routine sampling by the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets. The sale of uneviscerated fish is prohibited under department regulations.

No illnesses have been reported.

The recalled Rely-brand sardine anchovies were distributed nationwide in 7.0 oz. plastic packages.

The recalled Rely-bran dried yellow croaker was distributed nationwide in bulk cardboard boxes.
