# E. coli Recall: 500 Pounds of Ground Beef

A Georgia retailer is recalling approximately 500 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) [announced Wednesday](http://www.fsis.usda.gov/FSIS%5FRecalls/Retail%5FRNR%5FR%5F01%5F2011/index.asp?ref=foodsafetynews.com).

The problem at Food Depot #24 of McDonough, GA, was discovered through routine FSIS monitoring, which confirmed a positive result for E. coli O157:H7, the FSIS said.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the ground beef.

The recalled beef, produced on May 19, was sold at Food Depot #24 store, 560 Macon St., in McDonough. The beef was sold in 1 lb. to 4 lb. tray packs with a “sell by” date of May 20, 2011.
