# Government to Launch New Safe Products Site

The government is expected to launch a new website dedicated to communicating product safety information to consumers. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is set to launch saferproducts.gov, a consolidated clearinghouse for a wide variety of product information and recalls and incident reports filed with the agency.  
  
The project is part of the government response to the 2008 overhaul of product safety regulations after a lead-tainted toy scandal grabbed media headlines. According to Consumer Reports, industry will get 10 days to respond to posted complaints before they become live on the site.
