# Lead Found in Imported Salted Plum Candy

Consumers are being warned not to eat “Casa De Dulce Salted Plums w/Chile” imported from Taiwan after the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) found elevated levels of lead in the product.

In a news release, the CDPH said analysis showed that the candy contained lead levels as high as 0.78 parts per million. A young child eating one serving of these plums could ingest more than five times the recommended level of lead for a day, the agency said.

“Casa De Dulce Salted Plums w/Chile” are distributed by the Heritage Candy Company in Van Nuys, which is recalling the product. The candy is packaged in 1.5 ounce clear bags with a red and yellow cardboard label.

Consumers should discard the product immediately. Pregnant women and parents of children who may have consumed the candy should consult a physician or health care provider to determine if medical testing is needed.
