A Texas meat market originally recalled about 4,500 pounds of beef asada, beef stew meat, and ground beef for possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination.

As of late Wednesday, Culebra Meat Market No. 1 spokesman Javier Ramirez said about 1,200 pounds that were sold to consumers still have to be returned.

The popular San Antonio market announced the recall on Tuesday. It sells beef, apparently inspected only by the State of Texas, to both restaurants and retail customers.

Only the one outlet of the multiple market chain was involved in the recall. The possible contamination occurred between Oct. 2 and 15.

No illnesses have been associated with the Texas recall. E. coli O157:H7 can be killed if the contaminated meat reaches a high enough temperature.
