Customers should stop using the products and either dispose of it or return it to the customer service desk at any Meijer store for a full refund.

Meijer  operates 230 retail stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.   The  company, founded in 1934,  is both privately-owned and family-operated.

Listeria is a pathogen that  can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections especially in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.   Others may suffer more short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

A Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
