The cheese recall in Wisconsin expanded again Thursday.

Some cheese processed by the Alpine Slicing and Cheese Conversion Co. tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, so other cheeses shredded on the same equipment, including some cheese that tested negative for Listeria, have been recalled.

No illnesses have been reported, according to Alpine.

The latest recalls are for:

– HEB Queso Cotija (Grated) – 8 oz. packages with UPC code 0 4122024846 9 and sell-by dates of 08FEB12 and 09MAR12 distributed in Texas between Oct. 27 and Dec. 23, 2011.

– El Viajero Queso Quesadilla (Shredded) — 8 oz. packages with UPC code 0 7282014045 7 and sell-by dates of 24FEB12, 09MAR12 or 15MAR12 distributed in Wisconsin, Illinois, Tennessee and Florida between Nov. 1, 2011 and Jan. 3, 2012.

– El Viajero Queso Cotija (Grated) — 4 lb. packages with the use-by date 09MAR12 distributed in Indiana and Minnesota between Nov. 11, 2011 and Jan. 3, 2012.

– BMF Queso Quesadilla (Shredded) — 5 lb. packages with sell-by dates of 16FEB12, 01MAR12 or 15MAR12 distributed in New York between Oct. 21, 2011 and Jan. 3, 2012.

Also being recalled:

Approximately 492 pounds of Edelweiss Creamery Premium Fondue Blend in 16 oz. packages with a red and blue label, the UPC code 758590116914 and the identifier code 290A11 distributed from Nov. 1 to Dec. 30, 2011 to:

– Horrock’s in Lansing, MI (7420 W. Saginaw Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917)

– Metcalfe’s Markets in Wisconsin

– Maple Leaf Cheese Outlet in Juda, WI

– Gempeler’s Supermarket in Monticello, WI

– Sprouts Farmers Market in Chula Vista, CA (only the location at 690 Third Ave., Chula Vista, CA, 91910)

– Sunflower Farmers Markets in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and California

Earlier recalls were for Bekkum Family Farms “Grumpy Goat Shreds” sold under the Nordic Creamery brand name in 8 oz. bags with a code date of 10-MAR-12. The recalled cheese was sold in stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota and California beginning Nov. 11.

Alpine Slicing and Cheese Conversion Co. said it has ceased production and distribution of cheese as it works with the FDA to investigate the source of contamination. The company said all remaining inventory has been quarantined.

Consumers are urged not to eat the recalled cheese and to return it to the store where it was purchased.
